Thomas Carroll (born March 27, 1996), better known by his stage name Gatzby, is an American rapper from the Hewitt section of West Milford, New Jersey. Gatzby has released several projects including singles and mixtapes such as his 2015 release "1920", as well as singles such as "Seasonal Rise", "The Rapture Freeverse", and "Save Me." He has worked with various artists such as Ryan Bronson, Cato, and OnCue. In 2015 he began working with Ponderrosa Studios to construct his upcoming debut album. With a constant growing fan-base, people enjoy his Jazz and Rock take on Classic Hip-Hop.
Gatzby was born Thomas Carroll on March 27, 1996 in Hewitt, New Jersey. He started listening to hip-hop at a young age; admiring artists such as Lil' Wayne, Mac Miller, Chris Webby, and Machine Gun Kelly. He began writing his own raps in 2009 at the age of 12. He attended Pope John XXIII Regional High School, a private high school in Sparta, New Jersey.
After years of secretly writing lyrics and putting together a list of songs, Gatzby reached out to his lifelong friend, Andrew Missey, who owned a DJ business at the time, entitled "AJDJ Music Service". They began producing songs in Andrew's bedroom with minimal studio equipment. 4 years later, Andrew opened up his own professional studio, appropriately naming it, "AJDJ Studios."
Since they started, Gatzby and Mizzy (Andrew Missey) have played shows in multiple states on the east coast and opened for artists such as Chris Webby, OnCue, Huey Mac, Cam Meekins, Futuristic, and Ryan Bronson.
Gatzby currently goes to school at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA.
In 2011 Gatzby released a series of singles that were produced out of a makeshift studio. In 2012, local rapper, HaTeR, featured on a song entitled "Cold" which began to gain traction on social media platforms across the internet. In 2014 Gatzby's first mixtape entitled, "Enjoyable" was released on Datpiff. Its initial response was underwhelming, however, due to the lack of a solid fan-base. Over time, the project began to gain momentum through constant promotion by the artist and producers.
