Gateway is a census designated place (CDP) in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,943 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community is located just north of Southwest Florida International Airport.

Gateway is located at 26°34′29″N 81°45′16″W / 26.57472°N 81.75444°W / 26.57472; -81.75444 (26.574686, -81.754532).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.7 square miles (23 km2), of which 8.6 square miles (22 km2) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2) (1.72%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,943 people, 1,114 households, and 952 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 344.2 people per square mile (132.9/km²). There were 1,322 housing units at an average density of 154.6/sq mi (59.7/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 94.6% White, 2.1% Black, 0.14% Native American, 1.53% Asian, 0.78% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.26% of the population.
