Gammuladani

Gammuladani is the Sinhala term for Village Headmen in Sri Lanka in the past time.

The Gammuladani is like the king of the village and has full power to take any legal action within his village. He inspects all the crimes within the village and gives punishments and he collects the tax of the villages for the government. He is the person who handles all the government and legal duties within the village.

Mostly the Gammuladani post gives to the Ralahami(Arachchi)-Headman families from Kings' period. He should have good character and a large amount of lands and good personality.
