Gabral


Gabral is a charming hill station, comes at a distance of 20 km away from Kalam and located in Swat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan at an altitude of 7500 ft. The valley is surrounded by Chitral District in the north, Utror valley in the south west, upper Dir district in the west and Mahodand valley in the east. It is famous for brown swati trout fish, thick lush green forests, medicinal springs, lofty snow clad peaks and beautiful lakes, among them Shahi Bagh lake located to north west of Sazgul region at about three hours of trekking is worth seen.

Gabral has a uinque flora due to its close locaction with Himalayas, Hindu Kush and Karakorum. The botanists have found here nearly 180 of plant species. A survey by Pakistan Forest Institute concludes that 75 crude herbal drugs are extensively exported and more than 200 are locally traded in Pakistan. Indigenous people, who have no training in sustainable harvesting, post-harvesting care and storing of medicinal plants, collect 85 percent of these crude herbs from the wild.
