Furze Platt Senior School is a mixed secondary school with academy status in Maidenhead.
The school draws pupils from across Maidenhead, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
It was used as a filming location on the ITV television series Forever Green.
Examination results are very strong and the progress students make in their GCSEs is in the top 20% of schools in the country according to the SSAT in 2015.
The school's latest OFSTED report rated Furze Platt Senior School as GOOD. The quality of teaching was particularly highlighted as a strength along with student behaviour and examination success. The report is available on the OFSTED website.
The school's Sixth Form is entirely integrated into school life, yet benefits from a private sixth form area with a study area with computer facilities, study work rooms, seminar rooms and a communal common room. Examination results have been rated by the independent value added ALPS system as very good or excellent for the past 5 years.
The sixth form is led by the Head of Sixth Form. There are many opportunities for students to take on leadership roles within the school. OFSTED rated the pastoral care given to students as excellent.
The school has a strong careers education scheme and excellent links with universities across the country. Students regularly progress to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.
The school has an extensive range of specialist facilities and has benefited in recent years from a range of new building development including:- New Drama Studios, a recording studio, a new Maths Building and a Leisure Centre which incorporates an extensive fitness suite, playing courts, a dance studio and an Astroturf.
Maths and IT are recognised strengths of the school. The school is successful in local, regional and national mathematics challenges run by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust.
A new Mathematics teaching block was opened in September 2013 further extending opportunities.
