Frida Torresblanco


Frida Torresblanco is an award-winning Spanish American independent film and television producer known for her work with Alfonso Cuarón and Guillermo del Toro.

Frida has produced a variety of independent films including The Assassination of Richard Nixon starring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts, John Malkovich's The Dancer Upstairs starring Javier Bardem, Rudo y Cursi, Crónicas, Locked In, Gaudi Afternoon and Guillermo del Toro's Academy Award-winning film Pan's Labyrinth. In 2010, Frida launched her production company Braven Films whose first film (Magic Magic, starring Michael Cera) is set to be released in 2013.

Frida studied in Madrid where she completed Master's degrees in both literature and film, specializing in post-production and new media. During her studies, she started working as a production assistant and later as an assistant director, working her way up to producer. Next she worked at Lolafilms for 5 years where she was responsible for all international productions, including The Dancer Upstairs, directed by John Malkovich and Susan Seidelman's Gaudi Afternoon, starring Marcia Gay Harden.
