Fred Kerley

Fred Kerley (born May 7, 1995 in Taylor, Texas) is an American track and field athlete specializing in long sprinting events.. His best time for 400 meters, 43.70 set in the quarterfinals of the NCAA West Regional meet in Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas on May 26, 2017 ranks him as the seventh fastest 400 meters runner in history. His time became the NCAA record, taking 3 tenths of a second off the 44.00 record by Olympic champion Quincy Watts, set almost 25 years earlier. Kerley had met Watts just before the race. Earlier in the 2017 season, Kerley ran 44.09 in Columbia, South Carolina. He is in his senior year at Texas A&M University, both ranking him as one of the top 18 performers in history

Later in the season he won the 2017 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 44.03.

Earlier in 2017, he won the NCAA Men's Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships at 400 meters and joined his younger brother Mylik as he anchored the Aggies to a come from behind victory in the 4x400 meters relay. His 20 points led Texas A&M to their first ever team victory, run on their home track.

In 2016, he anchored the American gold medal winning 4x100 metres relay team at the 2016 NACAC Under-23 Championships in Athletics.

Prior to running for Texas A&M, he attended South Plains College and Taylor High School. His youth team was the College Station Sprinters in College Station,Tx.
