Although the county boundaries of Lancashire had changed by 2010-11 during the Premiership era there were eight participants in what was formerly the county of Lancashire: Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United,and Wigan Athletic. Thus the tradition of a high representation of teams in the highest echelons of British football from the North West of England continues to the present day.
Both players came on as a substitute and elbowed/pushed an opponent before the game had been restarted.
