He managed to solve the infrastructural gap of the electric network, as well as to make the R&D grow. Under his management, Terna’s Stock Exchange value has more than redoubled, securing the shareholders a total return, over the 300% (c.d. Total Shareholder Return, that means Stock Exchange performances and more dividends paid in that same period). Thanks to this job in 2010, Flavio Cattaneo was nominated Best Italian Manager – in the energy sector, he was the fifth among more than 40 European top managers. In December 2014, he became Board Member in one of Luca Cordero di Montezemolo’s societies, that is “Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori S.p.A.” as independent council member. Still at the end of 2014, he became board member of Generali Assicurazioni and Telecom Italia, alongside the roles of President and CEO of Fiera Milano and board member of Cementir Holding, NTV, as well as President of Domus Italia, real estate company belonging to Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone.

Starting March 30, 2016, he holds the role of Chief Executive Officer of Telecom Italia, replacing the resigning Marco Patuano. His responsibilities are related to the overall management of the Society and the Group, being in charge of conceiving and implementing strategic, financial and industrial plans. He also has organizational responsibilities, in charge of managing and developing Italian and South American business.
