Fierté Montréal, also known in English as Montréal Pride, was founded in 2007 at the initiative of Montréal’s LGBTQ communities, Montréal Pride is the largest LGBTQ gathering in the francophone world. Montréal Pride is dedicated to defending LGBTQ rights, promoting our cultural wealth and celebrating our social advances. Active year-round, Fierté Montréal supports local LGBTQ communities while serving as a beacon of hope for people around the world living in LGBTQ2SI-hostile areas.

A major event of Fierté Montréal includes the annual défilé (Montréal Pride Parade) on the major René-Lévesque Boulevard in Montréal. Around 2,400,000 people took part in various Fierté Montréal events in 2016.

The event was established in 2007 after the city's prior Pride festival, Divers/Cité, repositioned itself as a general arts and music festival.

From August 10 to 20, 2017, the festival’s special edition Canada Pride Montréal 2017, will be featured as part of the official programming of Montréal’s 375th and Canada 150th celebrations. It will offer more than 150 activities and events, with something for everyone.
