Federal List of Extremist Materials (Russian: Федеральный список экстремистских материалов) is a list of works that were banned in Russia, primarily based on the Russian Internet Restriction Bill. It is compiled by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation since July 14, 2007, and contained 1,058 items as of December 25, 2011[update]. As of August 8, 2016, the list included 3,762 items. Producing, storing or distributing the materials on the list is an offense in Russia.
The list includes publications and websites that criticize Russian authorities, such as the book Blowing Up Russia by Felshtinsky and Alexander Litvinenko, news website grani.ru, an open letter by Voice of Beslan, by mothers of victims of the Beslan school hostage crisis, certain publications by Muslim theologians and Jehovah's Witnesses, Mein Kampf and Zaveshchanie russkogo fashista, movies such as The Eternal Jew, songs, slogans ("Russia for Russians!", "Orthodoxy or death!"), video files, brochures and websites.
