Farm to Market Road 455 or FM 455 is a two-lane, state-maintained highway that connects five adjacent counties in north central Texas. Cities serviced by FM 455 include: Montague, Forestburg, Sanger, Celina, and Pilot Point. FM 455 also forms the southern boundary of Lake Ray Roberts in Denton County (the road crosses over the dam).
FM 455 was originally designated in 1945 from SH 59 in Montague southeast 4 miles. Later that year, it extended 3.8 miles to Mallard. In 1948, it extended 7 miles to Forestburg. In 1949, it extended southeast 5.3 miles. In 1951, it extended southeast to FM 51, replacing FM 1657 from FM 51 northwest 3.6 miles to Greenwood. In 1952, the section from the new junction of FM 730 to the old junction of FM 730 was transferred to FM 730. Also, he section from FM 730 to FM 51 was renumbered as FM 1204. Instead, FM 455 extended eastward to a road intersection 3.6 miles east of US 77, replacing FM 425 from FM 51 to the road intersection east of US 77. Part of that road was numbered as FM 1656 earlier. Later that year, FM 455 extended east 3 miles to the end of FM 1829. It replaced FM 1829 from that intersection to what is now US 377, FM 427 from what is now US 377 to FM 543, the section of FM 543 from there to what is now SH 5, and FM 1376 from what is now SH 5 to SH 121, and it extended east to FM 545. In 1964, the section from SH 5 to FM 545 was renumbered as FM 2862 and it extended east to SH 121 on a different route. In 1967, it extended east to FM 2862. In 1969, it extended southwest 2.5 miles from SH 59 in Montague. In 1987, Lake Ray Roberts was completed and FM 455 was rerouted over the dam, completing two new routes: FM 1190 (which was designated from FM 455 eastward to the Lake Ray Roberts marina) and FM 1192 (which was designated from the east side of the lake, through Pilot Point to its connection with the original FM 455 at US Highway 377).
