It separates Santa Rosa Sound to the south from Pensacola Bay, Escambia Bay, and East Bay to the north. The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway is located south of the peninsula through Santa Rosa Sound. The Naval Live Oaks Reservation, created from a tract of land used for production of shipbuilding materials, is located near the peninsula's western end.
