Fr. Fachtna O'Driscoll BA, BD, SMA, is an Irish priest for the Society of African Missions, in 2013 he was elected Superior General of the SMA. Fr. O'Driscoll, from Rathcormac, Cork, was educated at the local National School and at St. Colman's, Fermoy, before going to Maynooth College. A keen sports man, played for Bride Rovers GAA in Cork, and he represented Maynooth winning medals in the Fitzgibbon Cup (hurling) and Devine Cup (Soccer). Fr. O'Driscoll was ordained in 1979, and served in Nigeria. Following serving in Africa, Fachtna, went to the USA where he completed further Studies in Boston College. His older brother Gus is also a member of the SMA serving in the Philippines. He served as Rector of SMA House, Maynooth.
In 2001 he became Irish Provincial Superior of the SMA, and re-elected in 2006, and since 2013 Superior General of the Society of African Missions worldwide.
