Experimental criminology

Experimental criminology is a discipline of criminology which involves the use of scientific experiments to answer questions about crime. These experiments involve assigning subjects randomly to either a "treatment" or a "control" group. Such experiments are considered to be the best way to estimate the effect of one variable on another. The field of experimental criminology grew significantly during the 1990s, resulting in the establishment of the Academy of Experimental Criminology, the Campbell Collaboration, and other influential organizations.
