Eupleres major, the western falanouc, is a rare mongoose-like mammal endemic to Madagascar and classified in the carnivoran family Eupleridae.
Recognized only in 2010, it is in the genus Eupleres.
It is found in humid rainforest and marshes in northwest Madagascar and also in the dry deciduous forest in the west.
