The Dutch Eredivisie in the 1997/1998 season was contested by 18 teams. Ajax won the championship.
1 Ajax also won the KNVB Cup, thereby taking the double. They would participate in the Champions League, just like finalists PSV. sc Heerenveen, the winner of the third place match, would play in the Cup Winners' Cup.
2 RKC remained in the eredivisie after winning promotion/relegation play-offs. FC Groningen lost and relegated.
