Emma Raughton

Emma Raughton was an early 15th-century British anchorite. In approximately 1420 the Archbishop of York led a ceremony which led to Emma being bricked up in a cell in All Saints' Church, North Street, York. Emma, who had visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was consulted by Richard de Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick, about both personal matters, his desire for a male heir, and political matters, his role in supporting the young King Henry VI.
