Ellie Darcey-Alden (born 4 September 1999) is an English teen film, stage and television actress who is best known for young Lily Evans in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Francesca "Franny" Latimer in the Doctor Who series 7 Christmas special, "The Snowmen" and Felice della Rovere in Tom Fontana's Borgia: Faith and Fear. Before joining such large franchises as Harry Potter and Doctor Who, she appeared in minimal parts in British theatre and television. She has also done small-time modelling, commercials, voice over work and competitive dancing.
Darcey-Alden was born in Yarnton, Oxford, Oxfordshire to a middle-class family, the daughter of Sarah Dawn (née Darcey; b. 5 October 1975 to Mrs Darcey née Marshall in Oxford), a housewife, and Philip Rodney "Phil" Alden (b. 5 November 1966 to Mrs Alden née Quartermain in Berkshire), a production senior director on Falcon 9 for SpaceX in Hawthorne, a former general manager at BMW Plant Automotive Group and technology manager at Jaguar Rover Automotive, and an owner of a charity website. Her parents legally wed three years and eleven months after her birth on 23 August 2003.
She has a younger brother, Joseph (b. 18 February 2002) who is also an actor and two older half-siblings, James Philip (b. September 1990), a doctor at Colchester General Hospital and Rebecca Charlotte "Becki" Alden (b. 13 May 1992), who is presently engaged, both from her father's first marriage in April 1990 to Susanna Elsa Moorbath (b. June 1966).
Her extended family includes her maternal uncle Christopher Bennett "Chris" Darcey (b. December 1973), an industrial engineering designer at BMW Plant, her paternal great-great-grandfather Leonard Henry Alden, Mayor of Oxford from 1936-37 and his direct descendants, her uncles Martin J. L. (b. March 1965) and Jeremy David Alden (b. September 1969), a technical director at Linden Homes, Harefield, and her first cousins, Sam Thomas "Sammy" (b. July 1991), a student at the University of Gloucestershire, Theo Henry (b. March 1998) and Daisy Erin Alden (b. April 2002). None work in the entertainment industry, though all have been involved with Darcey-Alden's acting endeavors.
