East Troy (town), Wisconsin


East Troy is a town in Walworth County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,830 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Hilburn and Lake Beulah are located in the town. The ghost town of Army Lake was also located in the town.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 32.1 square miles (83.2 km²), of which, 30.3 square miles (78.6 km²) of it is land and 1.8 square miles (4.6 km²) of it (5.57%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3,830 people, 1,427 households, and 1,104 families residing in the town. The population density was 126.2 people per square mile (48.7/km²). There were 1,753 housing units at an average density of 57.8 per square mile (22.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.36% White, 0.23% Black or African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.37% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 1.15% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,427 households out of which 32.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.0% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.6% were non-families. 17.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.01.
