The Eagles of Whirlwind are the armed wing of the Syrian Social National Party.
They have participated in joint military action with both the Syrian Arab Army and the National Defense Forces in western Syrian provinces such Latakia, Homs and Dara'a.
The Eagles of Whirlwind primarily recruit Eastern Orthodox Christians from Lebanon and increasingly, Syria (although fighters from all religious backgrounds have been attracted to its secular, Syrian nationalist outlook).
The Eagles expelled ISIS from Sadad in November 2015 with the assistance of Syrian Arab Army regulars and Qamishli-based Sootoro militia fighters, who were transported from northeastern Syria by Russian cargo plane in an unprecedented logistical operation.
