E-hailing is a process of ordering a car, taxi, limousine, or any other form of transportation pick up via a computer or mobile device. The E stands for electronic and hail refers to the traditional process of signaling an approaching taxicab to stop.
To book a trip or hail a ride electronically, the customer must provide his desired pick up location, either by entering an address or providing a GPS current location.
E-hailing applications have been created by both application start-up companies and car service companies alike. These E-hailing apps are frequently used to supplement the use of mass transit and other traditional forms of transportation.
Some of the most common e-hailing services are Lyft, Uber, RideYellow, Curb, and Hailo.
