Dr. Prakash Baba Amte – The Real Hero (Marathi: डॉ. प्रकाश बाबा आमटे – दि रियल हिरो) is a Marathi film starring Nana Patekar, Sonali Kulkarni and Mohan Agashe in lead roles. Prakash Amte. It is a biopic on the lives of Dr Prakash Baba Amte, the son of the great social worker Baba Amte, and his wife Mandakini Amte. Dr. Prakash Amte is a selfless doctor and social worker who devoted his life towards the development and upliftment of the tribal people in the forests of eastern Maharashtra.

The film released overall in Maharashtra with positive reviews on 10 October 2014.

This movie showcases the life of Dr. Prakash Baba Amte, a man whose contribution to society is immeasurable. He was unaware of his destination but became an inspiration to the world by teaching the epitome of self-actualization.

After finishing his doctor degree, Prakash's father Baba Amte, took him on a picnic to Hemalkasa. It was a turning point in Prakash's life. He became restless seeing that, while people had reached the moon, there were people were living as animals. They use to hunt and sleep under the tree. Prakash went there to treat them and became a part of them.

Dr. Mandakini and Prakash loved each other from college days. Leaving her luxurious life behind, she accompanied Prakash without any condition. This is where the real story begins in the dense forest of Hemalkasa. They struggle with tribals, wild animals, Naxalites and corrupt government officials. Today, after 45 years, Hemalkasa has become an example to the world.

The film is shot in locations including Hemalkasa, Mumbai, United States, etc.

The release clashed with two other Marathi films, Ishq Wala Love and Punha Gondhal Punha Mujra.

The acting of Nana Patekar, Sonali Kulkarni & Mohan Aagashe was praised by audience and critics. Times of India gave it 3.5 stars stating that it's a must-watch film with whole family. It managed to do a business of 7.5 crore (US$1.2 million) in 2 weeks. Dr. Prakash continued its success and collected 12 crore (US$1.9 million) in 6 weeks, becoming one of the biggest Marathi hits of the year.
