Domain Group is a wholly owned business of Fairfax Media, a major newspaper publisher in Australia, primarily operating the property portal and associated real-estate industry businesses. Fairfax branded their real-estate sections in print with the Domain brand and first established an online presence in 1999. Since then the Domain Group has grown from the real-estate portal domain.com.au into Australia's second largest real-estate marketing business with 90% market penetration, competing directly with REA Group.
