District Council of Lameroo

The District Council of Lameroo was a local government area in South Australia from 1919 until 1997 when it merged with the adjacent District Council of Pinnaroo to create the District Council of Southern Mallee.

The first local government in the area was called the District Council of Pinnaroo, but was based in Lameroo and covered both Lameroo and Pinnaroo. In 1913, the council split, with the District Council of Pinnaroo remaining continuing to be based at Lameroo, and a new District Council of Pinnaroo East covering the town further east. They were renamed in 1919 with the council based in Lameroo becoming the District Council of Lameroo and the one based in Pinnaroo becoming the District Council of Pinnaroo. With a statewide reduction of local government areas in 1997, the two councils merged and the combined council is now known as the Southern Mallee District Council.
