The Director-General of the National Crime Agency is the head of the National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom, and as such is responsible for ensuring the effective running of the agency. The office is assisted by a deputy director-general who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation. The NCA is not directly part of the Home Office allowing the director-general to make full decisions on the operations it undertakes, however the director-general reports to and is appointed by the Home Secretary.
The current director-general is Lynne Owens, and the deputy director-general is David Armond. Owens was announced as the successor to Keith Bristow in November 2015, and took up the role on 4 January 2016.
