Denyse Plummer is a calypso singer from New York City. The 1954-born, blue-eyed daughter of a white Irish father and black mother, she initially faced significant prejudice in a genre traditionally seen as , but was eventually recognized as a leading calypso performer.
Before entering the calypso world, Plummer was well known as a pop singer at intimate bars and hotels throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
Plummer made her debut in 1989 at Skinner Park, where she found herself at the end of an appreciative audience who was cherring her on Plummer was enlisted by Phase II Pan Groove steelband arranger Len "Boogsie" Sharpe in 1990 to sing his band's Panorama entry. It was then that Plummer started making a name for herself as a calypsonian. In 1991, with yet another Len "Boogsie" Sharpe pan tune, "Woman Is Queen," she arrived at the National Calypso Monarch finals and also won the Calypso Queen crown. Since then she has taken the Calypso Queen crown a total of six times and has won 2nd place Crown three times.
Denyse Plummer is the 5th female calypsonian to ever win the "Young King" competition and has made it to Calypso Monarch finals in 1992, 1983, 1994 and was victorious in 2001, taking home the title for the first time.
In 1995 Plummer released a Christmas soca track "Santa de instructor" and in 2002 and 2003 released "Wire" and "Tempo" respectively.People said she coped a piece of Calypso Rose song Fire in the Wire ,from then people stoped liking her songs. In 2004 she released "Miss-Madam" and, in 2005, "Dont Blass She.". In 2006 Calypso Monarch title was won with the songs People Headings" and "Nah leave me alone ." This is were people now say Calypso Rose followed Singing Sandra With her song Leave Me Alone But people still like Calypso Rose
