Dennis J. Schmidt is an American philosopher and Professor at the Western Sydney University. He is known for his research on post-Kantian philosophy, hermeneutics and philosophy of art. He received his PhD in philosophy from the Boston College in 1982. Schmidt is the editor of "SUNY Series in Contemporary Continental Philosophy" and has reivsed Joan Stambaugh's translation of Martin Heidegger's Being and Time (1927).
