Denmark chose their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in a final held on 11 February at the Gigantium Arena in Aalborg. Sidsel Ben Semmane was unanimously selected to represent Denmark in Athens with the song "Twist of Love". Sidsel had a good presentation of her song which is a mix of elements from country and rock 'n' roll. Twist of Love picked up top marks from all four regional juries. The song was written and composed by Niels Drevsholt.
The youngest artist this year is 17-year-old Sidsel who comes from Århus, Denmark. Her talent was discovered recently by composer Niels Drevsholt who also wrote the song. During her leisure time she likes to perform with the party band Satzmo. Niels Drevsholt has already taken part as composer in the MGP four times. The 2006 song "Twist of Love" tells the story of a young girl like Sidsel that falls in love.
Due to the top-10 result of Jakob Sveistrup the previous year, Denmark proceeded straight to the finals, finishing in 18th place with 26 points.
The positions of the other five entries were never announced.
