Cloud-based integration Master Data Management

Dell Boomi is a business unit acquired by Dell in 2010 that specializes in cloud-based integration, API management and Master Data Management. Boomi was founded in Berwyn, Pennsylvania and first launched its services in 2007.

Boomi was founded in 2000, beginning with "configuration-based" integration. Boomi introduced Visual Integration Technology which allows users to build and deploy integration processes using a visual interface and a drag and drop technique. This interface remains one of the key elements of the current Boomi platform.

In 2007 Boomi released the technology now known as "AtomSphere," the industry's first Integration Cloud. AtomSphere kept the visual, point and click interface for building integrations and can be managed through a simple browser-based UI.

On November 2, 2010, Boomi announced its acquisition by Dell.

University of Technology Sydney selected Dell Boomi as its integration-platform-as-a-service solution. In February 2018, Dell Boomi research suggested that "86% of IT decision makers believe becoming a more connected business would mean revenue growth for their organisation over the course of twelve months".
