Dean A. Del Mastro (born August 16, 1970) is a former Canadian politician. He represented Peterborough in the House of Commons of Canada as a member of the Conservative Party from January 23, 2006 until November 5, 2014. After being charged by Elections Canada with falsifying election documents and knowingly exceeding the election spending limit, he resigned from the Conservative caucus. Del Mastro was convicted on three counts of violating the Elections Act, including exceeding the election spending limit, exceeding his personal donation limit, and falsifying documents. Del Mastro was sentenced to a month in jail, four months house arrest, and received other conditions. Each count carried a potential penalty of up to a year in prison and/or a fine of up to $2,000. He had served as the parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister of Canada and the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Del Mastro was born to an Italian Canadian family in Peterborough, began high school in Lakefield, and graduated from the Adam Scott Collegiate and Vocational Institute. He graduated from the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor and holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree. The Del Mastro family founded an automobile dealership that now sells RVs. Del Mastro had been a supporter of the Liberal Party of Canada, but he has said he became disillusioned with the party after the 1993 federal election.
