David Adkins (Born 1963 in Easton, Maryland) is an American actor and playwright.

Adkins was born in Easton, Maryland to Carolyn A. Sisk, a retired teacher. He moved to Columbia, Maryland with his family when he was in the second grade. He graduated from McDonogh School and attended Dartmouth College and the Juilliard School. He graduated from Juilliard in 1989.

It was at Juilliard where Adkins met Laura Linney. They married in 1995 and resided on the East Side. They separated in 1998. After five years of marriage, Adkins and Linney divorced in 2000. News of their divorce was made public in 2001. Since 2000, Adkins has been in a relationship with actress Corinna May.

Adkins resides in Manhattan.

Adkins made his Broadway debut in 1993, playing a small role and understudying a larger one in a revival of George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan.

In 1999, Adkins made his first professional appearance in his home state as Lord Goring in Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband, performed at the Center Stage. That same year, he had a small part in the 1999 film, The Thomas Crown Affair. In that film, he played the role of the "Son".

In 2012, Adkins participated in the George Street Playhouse's production of Reginald Rose's Twelve Angry Men.

In 2014, Adkins participated in Michael Frayn's Benefactors at the Unicorn Theatre in Massachusetts. That same year, Adkins portrayed Edgar Allan Poe in Eric Hill's play, Poe at the Unicorn Theatre.
