Danny Trevathan (born March 24, 1990) is an American football inside linebacker for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played college football at Kentucky, where in 2010, he was named an All-American by College Football News and was a first team all-SEC selection.
In 2010, Trevathan led the Southeastern Conference in tackles with 144 on his way to being named a first-team all-conference by a number of national organizations, including the SEC coaches themselves. Following the 2010 season, Trevathan completed the 2011 NFL Draft evaluation process but chose to return to Kentucky for his final season. In 2011, while leading the SEC again in tackles through 9 games,the top honor for college football linebackers.
Trevathan was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 6th round, 188 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft with the pick they received from the New York Jets in exchange for Tim Tebow.
In a game against the Dallas Cowboys, with the game tied 48–48, Trevathan intercepted Tony Romo, which led to the game winning field goal as Denver won 51–48. In the 2013 season, Trevathan led the team with 125 tackles. Trevathan helped the Broncos reach Super Bowl XLVIII, where they would lose 43-8 to the Seattle Seahawks. In the Super Bowl, he led the Broncos with 12 tackles.
On August 12, Trevathan suffered a fractured left kneecap during practice, and missed the first five weeks of the regular season.
