Daan Roosegaarde (born 1979) is a Dutch artist and founder of Studio Roosegaarde, which develops projects that merge technology and art in urban environments.
Roosegaarde was born in 1979 in Nieuwkoop in the Netherlands. He studied at the Institute for the Arts in Arnhem (1997–1999), the Academy of Fine Arts in Enschede (2001–2003), and the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam (2003–2005). He founded Studio Roosegaarde in 2007 in the Netherlands and later opened a pop up studio in Shanghai, China.
Roosegaarde's projects often employ light and sensing technology in an interactive manner.
The work from his Studio Roosegaarde has been exhibited at the Rijksmuseum, Tate Modern, Tokyo National Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Roosegaarde won the London Design Innovation medal in 2016.
