Cross City is a town in Dixie County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,728 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Dixie County.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.9 square miles (4.9 km2), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,775 people, 686 households, and 478 families residing in the town. The population density was 935.6 people per square mile (360.7/km²). There were 799 housing units at an average density of 421.1 per square mile (162.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 70.48% White, 27.27% African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.56% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, and 1.41% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.51% of the population.
There were 686 households out of which 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 21.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% were non-families. 27.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.04.
