Covelong Beach is popularly known as Kovalam beach is a beach located in the coast of a village named Covelong, Chennai, India. This village is a fishing village 40 km from Chennai. Covelong Beach is on the way to Mahabalipuram near the East Coast Road (popularly ECR).
Covelong Beach is one of the finest and beautiful beach by nature. As Covelong Beach being one of the famous beach near Chennai and is located on the way to Mahabalipuram, it is visited by thousands of people each day. Mostly the local crowd is higher in the beach.
Fishing is the main occupation done here. Even though, the beach is being famous equally it is littered by the tourists and the local people. This beach is also not properly maintained by the government as well as the local people.
Along with the beach, the village of Covelong, famous for its fishing activities draws many tourists, India's first surfing village here one can surf and stand up paddle in the right hand breaks also one can learn to surf in surf schools in this village like Bay of Life
