Courchavon is a municipality in the district of Porrentruy in the canton of Jura in Switzerland.
Courchavon is first mentioned in 1279 as Corchavon.
Courchavon has an area of 6.19 km2 (2.39 sq mi). Of this area, 1.88 km2 (0.73 sq mi) or 30.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 3.74 km2 (1.44 sq mi) or 60.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.47 km2 (0.18 sq mi) or 7.6% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.06 km2 (15 acres) or 1.0% is either rivers or lakes and 0.1 km2 (25 acres) or 1.6% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.4% and transportation infrastructure made up 3.7%. Out of the forested land, 59.1% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.3% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 12.8% is used for growing crops and 16.6% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
The municipality is located in the Porrentruy district, on the left bank of the Allaine river. It consists of the village of Courchavon and the hamlet of Mormont.
The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Azure, a Mullet [of Six] Or in chief between a Saltire of the same.
Courchavon has a population (as of December 2015[update]) of 300. As of 2008[update], 4.4% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (2000–2010) the population has changed at a rate of 1.7%. Migration accounted for -1.3%, while births and deaths accounted for 2.3%.
Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (280 or 95.6%) as their first language, German is the second most common (10 or 3.4%) and Portuguese is the third (2 or 0.7%).
