Corey Gibson, known professionally as Corey Chorus, is an American songwriter, record producer, vocal producer, sound engineer and publisher, known for having written songs such as Cheers (Drink to That) of Rihanna, Chica Bomb by Dan Balan, Made in the USA by Demi Lovato.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Corey began singing in church at the age of five. Shortly after, he found himself singing solos and a vast amount of them. Intrigued by the emotional response his performances received, he found strong ties that would advance his desire to become a singer .
Corey relocated to Freeport, New York and Long Island had no idea what it was in for. Snippets of stardom began at Freeport High School. Singing in the school choir was to be expected but being chosen as the emissary to represent the school in the Nassau County Chorus was a humongous honor. Corey performed in numerous shows but was the 1st Place Winner consecutively in several high school talent shows. However, for this young superstar-to-be, nothing has been more exhilarating than winning NBC’s “Amateur Night: It’s Showtime at the Apollo” at The Legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York".
Following high school, his path led him to Five Towns College, where he received a Performing Arts Scholarship for Jazz/Commercial Music after auditioning. Corey studied music production and performance, piano, guitar, and voice, while receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Audio Recording Technology. Shortly after graduating, Corey was invited to tour with an Award winning singer/songwriter. These opportunities were great learning experiences and prepared him for the next level of his career.
As a songwriter, Corey Chorus landed his first publishing deal with Cherry Lane Music Publishing. Corey said while signing, “Its a great feeling when your peers believe in your music just as much as you do”.
Some of the industry’s elite which Corey has had the pleasure of working with include Brandy, Babyface, Kelly Rowland, Estelle, Demi Lovato, The HeavyWeights, Alex Da Kid, Jonas Jeberg, The Runners, J.R. Rotem, REO, DJ Snake, and P. Diddy to name a few. Corey notes, “My career has been a blessing thus far...A diamond encrusted struggle, yet a blessing”.
