Conwy County Borough Council

Conwy County Borough Council (Welsh: Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy) is the governing body for Conwy County Borough, one of the unitary authority areas of Wales.

Elections take place every four years. The last election was 3 May 2012 [8], and is now governed by a rainbow coalition consisting of Labour, Plaid Cymru, Independents and the Liberal Democrats. Following the change of allegiance of the Lib Dem's only Cabinet Member to Labour in July 2014, the Lib Dems are not represented in the Cabinet but continue to support the Coalition which originated in the wake of the 2008 elections and was effectively returned to office in 2012. In March 2016, a vote of no confidence in the Leader split the Independent Group. Dubbed as the Gang of 14, they formed the Conwy First Independent Group to support the Leader, meaning the Independent Group went from the largest group with 19, to only 5.

The county borough is divided into 38 electoral wards returning 59 councillors. Few communities in Conwy are coterminous with electoral wards. The following table lists council wards, communities and associated geographical areas. Communities with a community council are indicated with a '*':
