Conothamnus aureus is a member of the Myrtaceae family endemic to Western Australia.

The spindly and straggly shrub typically grows to a height of 0.15 to 1.0 metre (0.5 to 3.3 ft). It blooms in between August and November producing yellow flowers.

Found on sand plains, flats and sand dunes in an area along the south coast extending from the Great Southern and into the south western Goldfields-Esperance regions of Western Australia where it grows in sandy or loamy soils.
