Concours Musical International de Montréal
The Montreal International Musical Competition(MIMC) (French: Concours Musical International de Montréal) is a high-level musical competition for violin, piano, and voice, established in 2002 by French-Canadian singer Joseph Rouleau.
The three disciplines of the Competition, voice, violin and piano are featured on a rotating basis over a three-year cycle. The 2016 edition dedicated to violin will be followed in 2017 with an edition devoted to piano, and in 2018 with a voice edition. The MIMC is now composed of four rounds: the preliminary round (based on video recordings), the quarter finals, the semi-finals and the finals. Award winners receive cash prizes.
Since May 7, 2004, the Montreal International Musical Competition has been a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions. As of January 2016[update], the MIMC's President was André Bourbeau and Christiane LeBlanc was the Executive & Artistic Director.
The inaugural Montreal International Musical Competition was dedicated to voice. The Grand Prize was won by Measha Brueggergosman.
The second edition of the Montreal International Music Competition was dedicated to violin. The Grand Prize was won by Yossif Ivanov.
The third edition of the Montreal International Musical Competition was dedicated to piano. The Grand Prize was won by Sergei Salov.
The fourth edition of the Montreal International Musical Competition was dedicated to voice. The Grand Prize was won by Sin Nyung Hwang.
The fifth edition of the Montreal International Musical Competition was dedicated to violin. The Grand Prize was won by Jinjoo Cho.
The sixth edition of the Montreal International Musical Competition was dedicated to voice. The Grand Prize was won by Marianne Fiset.
The seventh edition of the Montreal International Musical Competition was dedicated to piano. The Grand Prize was won by Nareh Arghamanyan.
