Colombo International School is a co-educational independent day-school in Colombo, Sri Lanka. There are 1400 enrolled students from 30 countries, ranging from 3 to 19 years (from Playgroup to Year 13) in the Infant, Junior and Secondary sections.

The school was established in 1982, as an English-language school based on a British curriculum, open to both Sri Lankan and foreign students.

In 1993, the new Chairman,Mr.Armyne Weerasinghe initiated a development and expansion programme. In 1998, a branch, CIS Kandy was opened in Mawilmada.

The school has expanded over the last 24 years to reach the present enrollment of approximately 1578 students from 30 countries. There are now about 100 students in each year group attending the school.

The sex education textbook Introducing Moral Issues by Joe Jenkins caused controversy in 2010, when the National Child Protection Authority was alerted by lawyer and former UNP MP Dinesh Dodangoda that the book was being used in the school's 6th Grade curriculum. A court case was filed by Dodangoda. The book had been used without complaint since 1997.
