Cockett (Welsh: Coced) is the name of an electoral ward in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, UK.

The ward is bounded by the wards of Kingsbridge and Penderry to the north; Cwmbwrla to the east; Townhill to the south east; Sketty and Killay North to the south; and Gowerton to the west.

2017 local council elections

Turnout for the local election was 32.73.

Labour changed three of their candidates for the election through their selection process. 30 Cockett Ward members voted to replace Ann Cook, Andrew Jones and Geraint Owens with three local candidates: Mike Durke, Oliver James and Wendy Lewis. Labour then increased their share of the vote in the ward and increased their lead over the traditional main opposition parties within the ward: Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats.

Ann Cook went on to stand in neighbouring Cwmbrwlla Ward only to lose to the Liberal Democrats by 1430 votes (Chris Holley) to 674 (Ann Cook). Geraint Owens went on to stand in neighbouring ward, Sketty, only to lose to both the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives.

The 2015 by election results were announced at the LC2 in the Swansea Maritime Quarter alongside the 2015 UK General Election. The turnout for the Cockett by election in the 2015 was 6253 out of 10528 registered electors, hence 59.4% almost double the 2012 election. [1]
