Cobweb (Nepali: कबवेब) stylized as COBWEB, is a pioneer Nepalese rock and reggae music band that was formed in 1992 by school friends Nilesh Joshi, Divesh Mulmi, Urdeep Joshi, Mahesh Nakarmi, and Pawan Shakya in Patan, Nepal. Cobweb is one of the oldest yet the most relevant band in Nepal and is an integral part of Nepalese Rock History, known for blending rock and reggae music with modern western-influenced music, innovative cover songs and their original masterpieces. The band has seen its fair share of ups and downs from its humble beinithe ng from early 90s iand he band has seen many members come and go. The band is currently composed of Divesh Mulmi (Vocal/ Guitar), Nilesh Joshi (Bass Guitar), Siddhartha Dhakhwa (Drums), Srijan Bikram Gewali (Lead Guitar) and Sanjay Aryal (Vocal/Bass). The band has produced some iconic albums like Rolling Strings(1998), Mercedes Benz(2000), Swing(2004), Rock n' Roll(2002), Namaste(2010) and Astitwa(2016) all of which have had major impact in the Nepalese Rock scene. Rock anthems like Mercedes Benz, Timro Maya, Maryo ni Maryo ni, Namaste, Astitwa are some examples of the bands creative genius.
Although the band is celebrated today, they had no idea they would see such success when they first formed the band. During the 90s the band was very young, popular and had a name for creating love related songs. They spend the whole decade of the 90s releasing albums and touring, much of their success can be related to the amount of songs they produced and concerts they performed during the time.
After early 2012 they did not come up with albums because there are very few genuine music lovers in the country. They could not survive on what they earned through music. All band members of Cobweb are working at different places to ensure their livelihood. Nilesh and Siddhartha are working together in a glass business. Rohit is involved with automobiles, Divesh looks after his recording studio, and Urdeep is the director of Samjhana Laboratory Clinic.
