Clay Earl Jackson

Clayton Earl Jackson (born 1974) is an American actor, most notable for being cast in the part of the Maytag Repairman from 2007 to 2014 after being selected in a national search conducted, in part by a friend's relative. Jackson graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College in 1997, where he studied drama and was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity.[2] He acted professionally for five years before choosing to join his family's business. He is currently married with two daughters.

Jackson auditioned for the role of the Maytag repairman on a whim and was one of over 2,000 people to audition. The auditioning process lasted eight weeks and consisted of four rounds, with six people in the final round. After accepting the position he spent three weeks in uniform fittings and photo shoots. On April 2, 2007 he was publicly announced as the new repairman on the CBS Early Show. Most of his time as the character was spent shooting commercials, being interviewed, and attending trade shows.

After his introduction as the character Jackson was in over 20 commercials in both Canada and The United States. He appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The CBS Early Show, CBS News Sunday Morning, Fox's The Best Damn Sports Show Period and made various personal appearances across the country. Jackson was the fourth man to play the iconic role following the footsteps of Jesse White, Gordon Jump and Hardy Rawls. He was replaced in January 2014 by actor Colin Ferguson
