Chairman of Hyundai Development Company President of Korea Football Association
Chung Mong-gyu, born in Seoul in 1962, is one of South Korea’s business leaders and Chairman of Hyundai Development Company. He serves as the 52nd and current president of the Korea Football Association (KFA). Chung Mong-gyu received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Korea University in 1985 and master's degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from Oxford University in 1988. He is also a nephew of Chung Ju-yung, the founder of all Hyundai groups.
Mong-Gyu Chung served as chairman and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company from January 1996 to December 1998. Mong-Gyu Chung has managed Hyundai Development Company since his appointment to chairmanship in March 1999.
Hyundai Development Company, a parent entity of Hyundai Development Company Group, is a comprehensive construction company established in 1976 and has created 390,000 apartment units in Korea including Samsung-dong IPARK, Suwon IPARK CITY and Haeundae IPARK. In addition, Hyundai Development Company has been active in various areas such as city development projects, residential and commercial buildings, civil engineering and social infrastructure projects. Mong-Gyu Chung has made efforts to promote corporate social responsibility by participating in the IPARK Campaign, the employee volunteer program of Hyundai Development Company, and establishing a non-profit organization, Pony Chung Foundation.
Hyundai Development Company has diversified its business areas to include construction subsidiaries such as I&Cons, a property development company, and I'Controls, a construction-related IT solution supplier, the manufacturing sector such as Hyundai Engineering Plastics, a supplier of engineering plastics, and Young Chang Music, musical instrument manufacturer, and non-manufacturing sectors such as I'Service, Hotel IPARK, HDC Asset Management, Hyundai IPark Mall, I'Cius and IPARK Sports.
