Christopher John Leaver CBE FRS FRSE (born 31 May 1942) is a British biochemist and Emeritus Professor in the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Oxford and an Emeritus Fellow, of St John's College, Oxford.
Leaver was educated at Imperial College London 1960–66: BSc, then PhD in 1966 in Plant Physiology.
Leaver's area of expertise is in plant biochemistry, development, plant physiology and signalling; before his current positions, he has at the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Purdue University and the University of Edinburgh.
Leaver was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1986. His nomination reads
