Chhota Chetan is a 1998 Hindi dubbed release of the 1984 Malayalam film My Dear Kuttichathan, which was India's first 3D film. Though a dubbed release, it went on to become a major box office hit.
It was the first feature film to introduce DTS for a stereoscopic 3D feature film.
Although it was the dubbed version of My Dear Kuttichathan, a few additional scenes were shot with Hindi actors Urmila Matondkar, Satish Kaushik, Shakti Kapoor, Harish) and Ravi Baswani.
Shakti Kapoor plays the part of a magician who tries to catch Chetan but gets trapped in a mirror. The part was originally played by Dominic Alumudan in the Malayalam version (Prakashraj did this role in its re-released Tamil version Chutti Chathan). Satish Kaushik plays the part of Jagathi Sreekumar as a scientist who also tries to catch Chetan but gets destroyed.
Original 1984 version had soundtrack composed by Ilayaraja however this version had new set of songs composed by Anu Malik.
