Chewsville is located at 39°38′35″N 77°38′6″W / 39.64306°N 77.63500°W (39.643149, -77.635032).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 293 people, 117 households, and 74 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 351.9 people per square mile (136.3/km²). There were 125 housing units at an average density of 150.1/sq mi (58.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.98% White, 0.34% Asian, and 0.68% from two or more races.
There were 117 households out of which 29.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% were married couples living together, 7.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.9% were non-families. 29.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
