Evangeline Cheryl Rose Eigenmann y Gil (born 12 May 1963), better known by her stage name as Cherie Gil, is a Filipino actress. She has been acting in TV series, films, and theatrical productions for decades.
Cherie Gil is the daughter of Filipino actors Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil, and sister of fellow actors, Michael de Mesa and the late Mark Gil. She was formerly married to Rony Rogoff, an internationally renowned violinist; the couple has two children, Bianca and Raphael. She also has another child, Jay, from a previous relationship. Gil is of Kapampangan, Spanish and Swiss German descent.
She has appeared in a number of hit teleseryes and primetime shows on ABS-CBN. Currently she is seen in the Philippine Educational Theater Association's (PETA) Arbol de Fuego, an adaptation of Anton Chekov's The Cherry Orchard. Her most recent projects are in Katorse, a remake of a film starring Dina Bonevie and a remake of the 1983 film Pieta wherein she played Amanda which was originally portrayed by her mentor the late Charito Solis.
In 2000-2001 she starred in her first soap May Bukas Pa that aired on PTV-4 as part of VIva Entertainment TVs block timer and in 2002-2003 on ABS-CBN's Bituin where she resumed her vocal talents and in 2004's Marina. In 2006 she took on the role as Menang Medel in the hit TV remake of Gulong Ng Palad.
She may be best known as Lavinia Arquelles in Bituing Walang Ningning.
In 2010 she was chosen to star in the fantasy series Grazilda for GMA Network. In early 2011, she joined the cast of the comedy fantasy series, Magic Palayok co starred by Carla Abellana, and Geoff Eigenmann. The series did not get picked up for asecond season after the season 1 finale which is composed of 88 episodes. The GMA Network cast her in another television show, Time of My Life.
